Briggs & Stratton Tags 12kW & 20kW Standby Generators With 10-Year Warranty
Briggs & Stratton recently announced that its 12kW and 20kW models from its dealer-exclusive Fortress standby generator family now come with a 10-year parts and labor warranty. Valued at $1,200, Briggs & Stratton says the warranty policy is the longest in the industry and will offer customers peace of mind when facing repairs or parts replacement.
Backup Power
The 12kW and 20kW Fortress models (model numbers 040579 and 040592, respectively) are rated to withstand hurricane-force winds reaching 175 mph with third-party certification when installed according to the installation manual. Both include pre-installed oil heaters encased in a corrosion-resistant enclosure. The 12kW unit is equipped with a 627cc Vanguard engine and is billed as suitable for providing backup power for small-to-medium-sized homes. The 20kW has a 999cc Vanguard engine; Briggs says it’s suitable for powering medium-to-large-sized homes. Both models feature the Symphony II Power Management System.
In addition to parts and labor, the 10-year warranty also covers travel for the full length of the policy. The company says both generators are certified in accordance with UL 2200 (Underwriters Laboratories; covering stationary engine generator assemblies) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) standard C22.2 No. 100-14 (covering motors and generators).
