Caterpillar To Manufacture 1,100-kVA DE1100 GC Diesel Standby Generator In India

Caterpillar is about to begin production on a new 1,100-kilovolt-ampere, 50-Hz generator set for stationary standby applications. The 400-volt DE1100 GC will be marketed to the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific regions. It will be manufactured in Hosur, India, for logistical reasons.

Lower Installed Cost

“Customers with standby power needs are seeking systems with an optimized combination of capabilities that deliver the productivity and dependability they need while minimizing their initial purchasing and installation costs,” says Caterpillar’s General Manager for Retail Electric Power Solutions, Jason Kaiser. “By offering only options that customers value in stationary standby applications and selecting the best place for manufacturing this product to support our customers, we have been able to significantly improve both product availability and affordability providing a lower installed cost per kVA for standby power customers.”

The Cat DE1100 GC

The new Cat generator conforms to ISO 8528-5 G3 transient response and load acceptance requirements. It can accept 100% block load for reliable backup power. A scalable GCCP1.3 control panel governs the operation of the genset, which comprises an SR500 alternator and a 12-cylinder, 32.1-liter Cat C32 TA engine. The system can operate at full power at temperatures of up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius), according to Cat.

The DE1100 GC comes with a two-year warranty. Local support and extended service contracts are available.
