Briggs & Stratton To Expand Home Standby Generator Production By More Than 100% With Alabama Facility

    Posted On: March 25, 2021

Briggs & Stratton plans to more than double its production of residential standby generator sets, citing high demand over the past year. A record number of hurricanes battered southern and eastern states in the U.S., while extraordinary winter storms in unusual areas such as Texas and Louisiana knocked out power to millions of residents.

“So many Americans now work and learn from home and it’s more important than ever to have backup power in case of an unexpected power outage,” says Briggs & Stratton President of Standby Power, Tom Rugg. “The events of the last 12 months have made it clear that consumers need reliable standby power, and Briggs & Stratton is prepared to provide power solutions to protect what matters most.”

    Closer To Areas In Need

Briggs & Stratton currently produces standby generators in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In May of this year, the manufacturer intends to expand said production to Auburn, Alabama, which is geographically much closer to the areas where generators are selling at a fast pace.

“We are making this investment in our future because of the phenomenal demand for standby generators,” Rugg says. “Reducing lead times for our customers is a key priority for our business, and we’re excited to be investing in additional manufacturing capabilities and new product development."

    Automatic Protection

Briggs & Stratton produces standby generators ranging from 10 kilowatts for medium-sized homes to 30 kilowatts for larger houses. The compact gensets are powered by commercial-grade Vanguard engines that run on natural gas or liquid propane (LP). They’re protected by a galvannealed steel enclosure with a powder-coat finish. Briggs & Stratton stresses that its generators’ limited warranty covers parts, labor, and technician travel for the full five-year term.

The company also offers transfer switches and two power management system options, Symphony II and Amplify, to meet your specific needs. The company’s InfoHub wireless monitoring app allows you to monitor your generator on your smartphone.
