Caterpillar Introduces Three New 20- To 30-Kilowatt C2.2 D20, D25 & D30 Standby Generators To North America

Caterpillar is now offering new 60-Hz standby generator sets in 20-, 25-, and 30-kilowatt power ratings. The new Cat C2.2 D20, C2.2 D25, and C2.2 D30 generators are powered by the Cat C2.2 inline four-cylinder diesel engine. They support more than 1,000 hours of continuous run time and can be configured with fuel tanks sized for 24, 48, or 72 hours of operation.

“This expanded series of generator sets provides additional choices for customers by delivering Caterpillar reliability and quality in lower power nodes,” says Cat Electric Power General Manager Jaime Mineart.

Cat recommends the new gensets for small industrial and commercial applications, telecommunications, small healthcare, retail, water and wastewater operations, municipal infrastructure, and general office buildings. The C2.2 D20, D25, and D30 are available now in North America.

Steel Or Aluminum Enclosures

Caterpillar says the new generators meet the EPA’s Tier 4 interim emergency emission standards, ISO 8528-5 transient response requirements, and UL and C-UL standards such as UL142. The backup sets can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).

The C2.2 D20, D25, and D30 have a compact footprint and are offered with an optional skid base. Available steel or aluminum enclosures provide additional security, weather protection, and noise reduction.

Control & Monitoring

The new Caterpillar 60-Hz generators come with the manufacturer’s GCCP 1.2 control panel. They also include Cat Connect telematics system hardware and a standard Cat Remote Asset Monitoring subscription. These allow for remote management via web interface or mobile app, as well as for data visualization, reporting, alerts, remote troubleshooting, and more. Cat says the service also provides long-term archives of site performance history.

Cat says that replacement parts for the gensets are abundantly available through its worldwide dealer network. The C2.2 D20, D25, and D30 come with a two-year warranty. Additional extended service coverage options are available.
