Caterpillar Launches 1,900-Kilowatt Natural Gas XGC1900 Generator For Low-Emission Continuous Power
Caterpillar’s new XGC1900 natural gas generator set supplies up to 1,900 kilowatts of continuous power for large-scale applications. The generator can switch between 50 and 60 hertz and among various voltage levels for operation in different locales and roles. Because it’s fueled by natural gas, its NOx emissions can be as low as 250 normal milligrams per cubic meter without an engine exhaust aftertreatment system. The XGC1900 is available now at Cat dealerships in North America.
“As customers increasingly embrace the advantages of using gaseous fuels, this high-performing power module addresses large-scale continuous power needs with a potent combination of reliability, serviceability, and low emissions,” says Caterpillar Global General Manager for Electric Power and Rental Solutions, Tom Caldwell.
Economical Reliability
Cat recommends the new XGC1900 for large-scale applications including utilities, municipal infrastructure, mines and quarries, and water treatment plants. The manufacturer says the generator set provides excellent response in high ambient conditions and at high altitudes. It is available in a weather-resistant, 40-foot (12.2-meter) enclosure with CSA-certified gas train and cooling and air handling. The container reduces operating noise levels to 81 dB(A) at 23 ft (7 m) at 75% prime load and 75% fan speed.
The XGC1900 is powered by a Cat G3516H natural gas engine that is tolerant of gases with low methane numbers. The highly efficient engine supports reduced oil consumption and longer service and maintenance intervals, lowering the cost of operation.
Remote Monitoring
Cat’s EMCP 4 control system also monitors and protects the XGC1900 during operation. The genset offers easy access to its outside control panel and power distribution panel for service. Cat Connect technology is available to wirelessly monitor the unit’s fuel status, battery voltage, and run status, among other things.
