Generac’s GP7500E Dual Fuel Portable Generator: A Closer Look
In May 2023, Generac Power Systems debuted a new, user-friendly portable generator that can run on either gasoline or LP gas at the turn of a dial. The GP7500E Dual Fuel delivers up to 9,400 starting watts and 7,500 running watts on gasoline, and 8,500 starting watts and 6,800 running watts on propane. The 120/240-VAC, 60-hertz unit is available now in the U.S. Generac recommends it for outdoor events, residential home renovation or construction, and emergency backup power to keep sump pumps and other essential systems running. Importantly, its COsense feature automatically shuts down the engine if it detects a dangerous level of carbon monoxide in the vicinity.
“At Generac, we’re continually striving to provide consumers with simple, convenient power solutions,” says Generac President of Consumer Power Kyle Raabe. “With easy switching from gasoline to liquid propane fuel with just the turn of a dial, the GP7500E is the perfect solution for your next outdoor event, DIY project, or as emergency backup power when the ability to use multiple fuel types can mean the difference between light and dark.”
Store It Until You Need It
The GP7500E DF is a compact generator with a steel frame, measuring approximately 27 inches (690 millimeters) in length, width, and height. The system weighs 208 pounds (94 kilograms), but it has “never-flat” tires and a handle to make it easier to move. The handle folds down for storage and has a locking pin to keep it in position.
Foolproof Power
The power plant of the GP7500E DF is a 420-cc Generac OHV engine. It comes with a battery for its one-touch electric start system. The motor also has a pull-type starter as a backup. The engine uses electronic fuel injection with an automatic choke for cold-weather startup. The splash-lubricated motor will automatically shut down if its oil pressure runs low.
The generator set’s 7.9-gallon (29.9-liter) steel gasoline tank has a fuel gauge and provides up to 10 hours of runtime under a 50% load. A 20-lb (9-kg) tank of liquid propane will power the GP7500E DF for up to 5 hours at 50% load. The engine has an hour meter to remind the user when it requires routine maintenance.
Extra Startup Power
Generac designed the GP7500E DF to be easy to use and understand. Its PowerRush Advanced Technology feature temporarily increases electrical current output by up to 30% on demand, such as when an appliance with an electric motor starts up.
The generator comes ready to be connected to a transfer switch. It is compatible with Homelink manual transfer switches. Generac backs the GP7500E Dual Fuel with a limited warranty for three years of residential use or two years of commercial service.
